Michael Shermer DLS Lecture (March 1)

Acclaimed skeptic, interdisciplinary scholar, and prolific author Dr. Michael Shermer will be presenting a lecture on the UW-Madison campus on Monday, March 1, at 7:30 p.m. He is in town as part of the UW’s Distinguished Lecture Series, and will be speaking in the UW Memorial Union Theater.

Madison Science Pub - January 31

Dr. John Everett from the UW Department of Astronomy will discuss how our Milky Way Galaxy and other galaxies work: how do they form stars, and why do they have the shapes they do. Other topics may include how central supermassive black holes fit into the picture, and how black holes have gone from being speculation to seeming nearly ubiquitous in the Universe.

And of course they'll be lively discussion and questions throughout, so bring all those weird questions about astronomy you've been wondering about in the shower and get the answers!

Madison Science Pub - November 22

The November Science Pub will feature Dr. Lydia Zepeda, from the UW Department of Consumer Science. She'll discuss "Who eats organic and local foods? A conversation about research on consumer food choices." Dr. Zepeda' is a food economist who investigates consumers' perceptions, attitudes, and behavior regarding their food choices. Her current research focuses on organic and local foods.
