Madison Science Pub - November 22

The November Science Pub will feature Dr. Lydia Zepeda, from the UW Department of Consumer Science. She'll discuss "Who eats organic and local foods? A conversation about research on consumer food choices." Dr. Zepeda' is a food economist who investigates consumers' perceptions, attitudes, and behavior regarding their food choices. Her current research focuses on organic and local foods.

Madison Science Pub - October 25

The October 25 Science Pub will be a discussion of science education with four Madison High School science teachers and a university lecturer who works in professional development programs for science teachers.

If you believe the hype in the press and the blogosphere, you'd conclude that science education is in tatters. Come and listen to what's going on right here in Madison. Be prepared for a conversation about kids, education, national priorities and obstacles. Come with your questions and comments. Come to listen or share. Come for the conversation (and beer).

The Madison Skeptics will host Dr. James Conway, Associate Professor - Pediatric Infectious Disease, School of Medicine and Public Health at the UW Madison. Dr. Conway will speak about H1N1 and vaccination issues generally.

Following the meeting, the Skeptics will adjourn to the Hubbard Avenue Diner (just across the parking lot) for continued conversation and refreshment.

Fall Family Potluck Picnic

Hoping for good weather, we a planning a picnic in Marlborough Park hosted by the Humanist Union, co-sponsored by the Madison Skeptics and the Madison Brights. All greater Madison area free thinkers, humanists, skeptics, nonbelievers, agnostics, atheists, and their friends and families are invited. In case of rain we will picnic indoors at the Prairie Meeting House instead.
