Madison Skeptic Shahla Werner will give a talk: Nuclear Energy and Carbon Sequestration: Real Climate Change Solutions or Dangerous Distractions?

Shahla Werner has worked as the Director of the John Muir Chapter of the Sierra Club in Wisconsin since 2008. She earned her PhD and MS in entomology at the University of Wisconsin - Madison where she compared the biodiversity of beetles in old growth and managed forests and studied the introduced basswood thrips. She previously worked as a forest entomologist for the Pennsylvania Department of Natural Resources, as a fundraiser for WORT-FM radio and the Natural Resources Foundation of Wisconsin, and as the volunteer co-president for the Wisconsin National Organization for Women. She lives in Madison with her husband and fellow skeptic, Andy Weidert, and their four-year-old son Darwin.
