Hunting the invisible ghosts in the Universe: Neutrinos from the Sun, the Earth, and nuclear power plants

Neutrinos are all around us and fill space since the beginning of time. They may explain why we live in a Universe of matter and may be their own antiparticles. Karsten Heeger, from the UW Department of Physics, will describe his research in deep underground locations in three continents to study one of the most mysterious particles of the Universe. In this context the first US-China partnership in particle physics has provided us with insight into the rise of science and technology in this rapidly developing country. Karsten will offer some personal observations of the challenges and opportunities for research and science in China.
